Probably the only thing I love as much as chocolate is rich, buttery caramel. Put the two together and the combo is completely irresistible. Like this Air Fryer Turtle Brownie recipe. They are so delicious that they’re downright dangerous.

But the good news is that when you make brownies in an air fryer, you can make a small batch. This recipe makes just enough to satisfy my craving with a few left over to share with the family.

Ingredients you need to make this fudgy brownie recipe

I’ve seen lots of recipes for air fryer chocolate brownies using boxed brownie mix, but it’s so easy to make them from scratch. Most of the ingredients for these Air Fryer Turtle Brownies are pantry staples. Here’s what you need:

  • Spray oil: For preparing the pan. Don’t use aerosol spray oil if you are using a nonstick pan. You can also use a baking spray instead.
  • Flour: Use all-purpose flour.
  • Cocoa: Use unsweetened cocoa powder.
  • Sugar: Regular granulated sugar.
  • Butter: Unsalted butter at room temperature (leave it on the counter for 30 minutes or so to bring it to room temperature from the refrigerator.)
  • Eggs: Use large eggs, also at room temperature.
  • Oil: Use any neutral-flavored cooking oil like safflower oil, vegetable oil, or canola oil.
  • Vanilla: Use pure vanilla extract or substitute vanilla bean paste.
  • Salt: Use a fine-grain salt without additives (sea, kosher, etc. Not table salt.)
  • Baking powder: For leavening.
  • Pecans: You can substitute any nut you like. Walnuts or hazelnuts are also great here.
  • Caramel sauce: For that ooey, gooey goodness!

You only need a couple of things to make brownies in the air fryer. Here’s what you need for these easy air fryer brownies:

How to make air fryer brownies

This recipe really is super easy. Mix up the batter in a single bowl and go! You don’t even need to preheat the air fryer. Here’s how to make these brownies:

  1. Prepare the pan by spraying with oil and dusting with flour.
  2. Mix all of the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, eggs, oil, vanilla, salt, and baking powder together until smooth and well combined.
  3. Stir in the pecans.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  5. Drizzle the caramel sauce and use a toothpick, a skewer, the tip of a knife, or another pointy thing to swirl the caramel around a bit.
  6. Put the pan into the air fryer basket and air fry until the brownies are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

These air fryer brownies were a great addition to my Christmas sweets table since I needed some variety. I added a 1/2 cup of mini chocolate chips to the batter as you suggested and it was superb.

Another air fryer recipe that I am keeping! The air fryer gave them a perfect texture, crispy outside and fudgy inside. So good! Very easy to follow too.

I made this for our Christmas dinner dessert and my family loved it. I didn’t have pecan so I used walnuts instead and I added white chocolate chips as well to the second batch I made so we can have two options. I also had to make my version of caramel sauce to add to the recipe.

I made these for my family on Christmas and they devoured them! They couldn’t believe I made them in the air fryer. It was great because I was using the oven for other things!
