Are you wondering how to use your air fryer to make healthy snacks? Wonder no more—I’ve got some great air fryer snack recipes, including this one for Air Fryer Zucchini Fries.

I love using my air fryer to make snacks—they’re a bit healthier and the cleanup is so much easier than deep frying. Some of my favorite air fryer snacks are Air Fryer Spring Rolls, Air Fryer Empanadas, Air Fryer Taquitos, Air Fryer Wontons, and Air Fryer Jalapeno Popper Bites.

These crispy Air Fryer Zucchini Fries are perfect for munching. Whether you dip them in Spicy Ketchup, ranch dressing, Sriracha Ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce, these fries are crispy, crunchy enough to stand up to all of it.

Ingredients you need

These Air Fryer Zucchini Fries don’t require a lot of ingredients, and neither does the Spicy Ketchup. Here’s what you need:

  • Zucchini: 3 to 4 zucchini, cut into French fry size/shape sticks.
  • Flour: I use all-purpose flour.
  • Eggs: Use 3 large, beaten eggs.
  • Panko: You can use Homemade Panko bread crumbs or store-bought to give these zucchini fries a crispy, crunchy coating.
  • Parmesan cheese: Use ¼ cup of grated Parmesan is mixed into the breading mixture.
  • Seasonings: Garlic powder, salt, dried parsley, chili powder, hot sauce. You can add other seasonings if you like, like Italian seasoning.
  • Ketchup: I recommend using store-bought ketchup that doesn’t contain high fructose corn syrup. Simply Heinz is a good one.
  • Olive oil: This is optional, but I like to spritz my zucchini fries with oil before air frying. This helps make them nice and golden brown and crisp.

How to make crispy zucchini fries

Air Fryer Zucchini Fries are easy to make—just coat the zucchini sticks in egg, flour, and a seasoned breadcrumb mixture with cheese and pop them in the air fryer. Here are the steps:

  1. Pat the zucchini strips dry using a paper towel or dishtowel.
  2. Put the flour and eggs into separate bowls. In a third bowl, combine the panko, cheese, garlic powder, and salt.
  3. Coat the zucchini sticks first in flour, then in egg, and finally in the panko mixture. Lay they in a single layer on a baking sheet while you bread the remaining zucchini sticks.
  4. Arrange the zucchini fries in a single layer on the air fryer trays or in the air fryer basket, depending on the type of air fryer you’re using. If you’re using a basket style air fryer, you’ll need to work in batches.
  5. Spritz with olive oil if desired.
  6. Cook in the air fryer until they’re crisp and golden brown, and then season with more salt.
  7. To make the spicy ketchup, in a small bowl, combine the ketchup, chili powder, and hot sauce and stir to mix well.
  8. Serve the Zucchini Fries hot, garnished with dried parsley, and with Spicy Ketchup or another sauce alongside for dipping.

How to serve these crispy zucchini fries

I serve these Zucchini Fries as a healthy snack for game day or just a regular weekday afternoon or as a side dish.

This Air Fryer Zucchini Fries recipe is great as is, served with the Spicy Ketchup dipping sauce. But for a change of pace, try them with Sriracha Ranch, regular ranch dressing, garlic aioli, Spicy Zhoug Sauce, Cilantro Mint Chutney, or even Cucumber Raita. Really, these are likely a good match for just about any favorite condiment.

I love making all sorts of veggie fries, like these crispy carrot fries. And if you love squash like I do, you’ll love this stuffed delicata squash and these baked sweet potato fries, too.

Notes

  1. You can line your air fryer basket with a parchment paper liner if desired.
  2. If you're using an air fryer with a nonstick basket, use olive oil in a spray bottle that doesn't contain any propellant (the propellant will erode the nontsick coating of your air fryer basket).
  3. You can use your air fryer to reheat the zucchini fries and they will be crispy again.
