If you’ve got a package of frozen shrimp in your freezer, you are literally 5 minutes away from a delicious meal.

Shrimp cooks super fast no matter what cooking method you use. That means that in the Instant Pot, it literally only takes 1 minute of cooking time. If you start with boiling water in the pot, you’ll cut the time down even more because the pot will come to pressure quicker.

Serve this shrimp with your favorite cocktail sauce for dipping. Or serve it tossed with noodles or over rice along with your favorite sauce. Add some raw or cooked vegetables and dinner is sorted!

Ingredients you need

For the complete list of ingredients with quantities and detailed prep and cooking instructions, please see the recipe card that appears at the end of this post.

The ingredients for this quick Instant Pot Shrimp are so simple. Here’s what you need:

  • Shrimp: Use frozen, raw shrimp. Make sure to buy your shrimp peeled and deveined. That way you don’t have to thaw, peel, and devein it before cooking.
  • Olive oil: Use any good olive oil. You could also substitute butter if you like.
  • Garlic: Use fresh, minced garlic for flavor.
  • Paprika: Just a little adds nice color and brightens the flavor, but you can leave it out if you don’t have it.
  • Water: Use boiling water in the bottom of the pot. If the water starts out boiling, the pot will come to pressure much faster than if you start with cold water.

I love to use Instant Pot Shrimp in other dishes. Add it to Pork Fried Rice, Pad Woon Sen, Thai Fried Rice, Singapore Noodles, Pad Thai, Peanut Sauce Noodles, or Burmese Garlic Noodles. You can even use it in Shrimp Yakisoba or use it as a filling for Onigiri or Yaki Onigiri.

If you love seafood as much as I do, you should also try this crab boil recipe.
